Applicant Information

Each application form will also have a job profile, a person spec and New Charter behaviours relating to the vacancy you are applying for. Use this information to show us how your skills, knowledge and attitude match the vacancy requirements – give us examples to back up your application. Provide details of your current and previous employment, listing the most recent post first. Don’t forget to include any experience you may have gained doing unpaid or voluntary work.

We will draw up a short-list of applicants based on the information provided on the application form, so please make sure you provide enough evidence that you meet the essential and desirable qualities in the person spec.

You can download an application form and email it to us. You can also submit a copy online or alternatively you can request a paper copy. We can also accept your details recorded in an audio or video format or in Braille.

New Charter does not accept applications by CV, unless specifically asked for in an advertisement.

Disabled Applicants

On the application form, we ask whether you have a disability. This is so we can give your application full and fair consideration and assist your access to the organisation. Therefore, before interview we will ask if you have any special needs or requirements for example, an interpreter or special seating.

We have a guaranteed interview scheme in place for applicants who consider themselves to have a disability. This means that if you meet the minimum level of essential skills for the job, as contained in the person spec, you will be invited to interview. Obtaining an interview under this scheme does not guarantee you the job. On completion of the selection process the most suitable candidate will be offered the post.

New Charter can produce material in Braille, audio or video format and large print for applicants who are hearing or visually impaired.

Trade Union Membership

New Charter welcomes Union membership and will bring this to the notice of all new employees.

Canvassing of Board Members/Managers

Canvassing Board Members or people on the Recruitment Panel in support of your application will disqualify you as a candidate.

Criminal Record Bureau Disclosure

Some of our vacancies require a CRB check to be carried out prior to you starting work. You will be made aware if this is the case for the vacancy that you have applied for.

Prevention and Detection of Fraud

We may use the information given on the application form for the prevention and detection of fraud.

Asylum and Immigration Act 1996

It is a criminal offence for an employer to employ a person who is not entitled to live or work in the UK. To protect New Charter from committing a criminal offence, the Human Resources team will require all potential employees to produce a number of official documents to be checked, before an offer of employment can be made. New Charter will photocopy the original documents and retain copies securely. These documents may include a passport showing that the holder is a British citizen, or has a right of abode in the UK, a document showing a National Insurance Number and name, a birth certificate or a work permit issued by Work Permits UK.

You will need to provide the details of two employment referees, one of which should be your current employer (or most recent employer). It is not acceptable to provide the name of a family member as a referee unless you were employed by them.

Relatives of Board Members, Senior Managers or other Employees of New Charter

If you are related to a Board Member or member of staff of the Jigsaw Group Group, you should make us aware of this on your application form. Deliberate omission to disclose this information will automatically disqualify you from appointment. If the omission is discovered after appointment, this may lead to your dismissal.
