1000th home fitted with solar panel system

21 October 2014
GES Chairman Dr Quincy Lin, Tom Daley & Executive Director New Charter Building Co, Andy Stafford.
We have now fitted our 1000th home with solar panels.

To celebrate this landmark achievement, our partner and supplier of the panels, GES, kindly donated a full solar panel system to 2nd Generation Furnishings - a GREAT community project.

On 10th October, the solar panel system was completed and the benefits of reduced bills started straightaway. The reduction in energy costs will allow 2nd Generation to focus more on supporting those people who are most vulnerable.

Last week, we welcomed special guests from GES in Taiwan, the Mayor and Mayoress of Tameside and other partners to our offices after an event and photo call at 2nd Generation Furnishings to mark the project.

The installation is part of an international deal worth more than £18 million between Taiwanese solar company, GES and our Group. The contract, believed to be the first of its type, is the biggest solar project for a housing association in the UK.
