New Charter Building Company celebrates 8 golden years at the RoSPA Awards

22 June 2016

The New Charter Building Company has just been awarded with its eighth consecutive gold award at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Health & Safety Awards.

For the past 60 years, the internationally recognised awards have sought to recognise companies that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to raising the standards of safety and wellbeing within their organisations.

For the eighth year running, New Charter Building Company has been awarded on of the highest accolades available, the Gold Medal, in recognition of their excellent health and safety record.

The New Charter Building Company, which is part of the Jigsaw Group, a social landlord based in the Tameside area of Greater Manchester, provides maintenance and repair services to social housing tenants. As such it is vital that they are able to demonstrate an innovative and well-structured approach to health and safety management, especially given that many of their customers are vulnerable members of society.

Paul Woodcock, Managing Director of the New Charter Building Company said; “Given the nature of the work we do it is vital that we have robust health and safety policies and procedures in place, not just for the safety of our staff, but of our customers too. To have our outstanding record recognised for yet another year not only validates the hard work that our team put in, but it also lets our customers know that we are a building company they can trust.

I’d like to thank all my staff at New Charter Building Company for the care and diligence with which they carry out their work, as well as the Jigsaw Group’s Health & Safety Team for their innovative approach to policy implementation.”

These non-competitive awards are rated from Merit to Gold and any company that receives a Gold Award for between 5 and 9 consecutive years is awarded a Gold Medal. New Charter Building Company are now just 2 years off receiving the next highest accolade, the President’s Award, which is given to companies who receive the gold award for 10 consecutive years.
